KATIE’S ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW:

Culmfield Cuckoo
By Celia Moore
4 stars
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

Culmfield Cuckoo is the second book in the Fox Halt series however it can easily be read as a standalone. I read it as part of the series and would probably recommend it is read in order.
Like with book 1 I found Culmfield Cuckoo to be well written and an enjoyable read. The authors writing is really easy to read and her stories flow really well. The author balances romance and mystery throughout the story well and this makes for an entertaining and captivating read.
I really liked the characters in the story, they were well thought out and planned. They are multi-layered characters who I think you need to read about for a while to get to understand them. I think the authors detailed writing allowed me to really understand the characters and their story.
The author took her time to re-cap on events from the previous book at the beginning but without re-telling everything. It serves as good reminder but also great for readers who haven’t read the first book in the series!
There were some good twists and turns in the story that made it less predictable than I anticipated! I really enjoyed Culmfield Cuckoo and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from Ms Moore again in the future!

I really enjoyed The Earl’s Runaway Governess – I thought that it was a fantastic 5 star read! This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author, I really love her writing. Everything about her stories fits the era in which she has set her stories. I do think that this is my favourite book of hers I have to say. I was captivated form the very beginning. I felt like I was on the journey with Marianne, I was willing her to escape and then I was willing her to find happiness. The way in which the author wrote the story made it seem so real, her vivid descriptions helped me to imagine what Marianne was going through. I could definitely imagine watching this as a period drama on television! I really liked Ash too and I knew that as soon he met Marianne sparks were going to fly between the two!!
Overall a fantastic read that I highly recommend! I can’t wait to read more from Ms Tinley again in the future!!

This is third book that I have read in this series and again I absolutely loved it! I loved the characters and the scorching heat between them. I really love this author’s writing; she never fails to grab my attention quite quickly when reading her stories. Her storylines are exciting and they have some great twists and turns. The Disgraceful Lord Gray is probably my favourite book out of this series!
I really loved Gray and quickly fell in love with him. He had suffered a real troubled past but there was just something about him. He was such a sweet and genuine person.
Thea was a fantastic female lead – she is strong willed, bold, outspoken everything I love in a heroine! Although she was all of those things I also really felt for her with how she felt about the things that had happened in her past.
I was really rooting for Gray and Thea the whole way through – I thought that they were perfect for each other!
I absolutely cannot wait to read more from this author again in the future!

The Cornish Lady
By Nicola Pryce

The Cornish Lady was a well written story that took place in a beautiful setting. Through the authors wonderful descriptive writing I could really imagine the beautiful countryside where these characters were living. Historical fiction is one of my favourite genre’s to read so I was really looking forward to reading this book after reading the synopsis for it. I think it was a little slow at times but I really adored the characters and enjoyed reading their story. Angelica was a likeable character that I really connected with. I did feel sorry for her at times and could feel just how worried she was for her brother and the turn his life was taking. Henry was such a lovely character, really kind hearted and genuine. I loved the interaction between the two.
Although this is the fourth book in the Cornish Saga series I read it perfectly as a standalone however I would definitely like to read the first three at some point.

Fox Halt Farm
By Celia Moore

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

This is definitely one of those books where you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! I thought that Fox Halt Farm was a really lovely read, very emotional and emotive. I found that I was easily swept up in Billy’s story – her story wasn’t a particularly easy one to read, she had her faults but also I found her to be really complex and I wanted to keep reading just to find out what happened to her. Alongside Billy was the blossoming friendship between Richard (who saved Billy) and Danielle (Billy’s mother) I enjoyed reading the correspondence between the two and I really felt that Richard was a genuine and caring person. They both obviously wanted what was best for Billy, even if she was reluctant to accept this help!
There was quite a lot going on in the story but that author tied all the characters together beautifully. There were some good and unexpected twists and turns which made me want to keep reading until the end.
Overall I thought that this was an interesting read that I enjoyed once I got into it. I would recommend it and would like to read more from the author again in the future!

The Forgotten Secret was really enjoyable read which had me intrigued the whole way through. I really like historical fiction and this book was a great example. It is also the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her detailed writing style. I loved the dual timeline to the story and at first I wondered if I would be lost and confused but I wasn’t at all, her writing was just seamless. The author did an amazing job with keeping everything really easy to read. There were times when I felt like I was watching a period drama not reading a story and this is what I love about historical fiction. The story was so easy to lose myself in and I did that many times. I loved the characters and found them to be both likeable and believable.
I absolutely recommend this story to lovers of historical fiction and also maybe to people who are looking for something different to read. The authors’ writing was excellent and I would absolutely love to read more from her again in the future.

The Ghostly Father

Was this what really happened to Romeo & Juliet?

Think you know the world’s most famous love story? Think again. What if the story of Romeo & Juliet really happened – but not quite in the way we’ve all been told?

This part-prequel, part-sequel to the original tale, told from the point of view of the Friar, tells how an ancient Italian manuscript reveals secrets and lies which have remained hidden for hundreds of years, and casts new doubts on the official story of Shakespeare’s famous star-crossed lovers.

If you love the Romeo & Juliet story but are disappointed with the way it ended, this is the book for you.

When I first read the blurb for this book I was really excited – Romeo and Juliet is one of my all-time favourite classics to read, I’ve also loved the film adaptations of it too – it is just one of the timeless stories that can be enjoyed time after time. So I was really looking forward to seeing how this author could put a modern twist on a classic and I have to say she did it really well! I loved what I read and found it hard to put down. The author’s attention to detail was exceptional and it definitely made my reading experience all the better for it. The new twists that the author added made for a very exciting read and I loved that even though I know the original story so well she was still able to surprise me with the direction in which she took this tale.

If you are a fan of Romeo and Juliet then I think you will absolutely love this new modern take on it – I know that I wasn’t disappointed!!

A Rebel at Pennington’s (Pennington’s #2)
By Rachel Brimble
4 stars
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

A Rebel at Pennington’s was another wonderful historical romance read by Rachel Brimble. I really like the way the author describes everything in her stories with such detail. Everything I read is vivid in my mind as if I am watching a British period drama. Although this is the second book in the Pennington’s series it could easily be read as a standalone, however I would also highly recommend book 1 also.
I loved the main characters in the story, especially Esther. She was a strong, independent woman and I really enjoyed reading about her. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed even if that meant losing her family.
I really liked Lawrence, he may be wealthy but he has worked hard to get to this point in his life. I think I knew when Esther and Lawrence first met that they would make the perfect couple but there were reservations from both sides which I could totally understand.
A really enjoyable read and I am looking forward to reading more from this series and this author in the future.

Katie’s 4 Star Review:

The Earl’s Irresistible Challenge
By Lara Temple
4 stars
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

The Earl’s Irresistible Challenge was a fantastic read, one that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was really captivated by her writing. The story flowed really well and I loved how rich and detailed the authors writing was. One of my favourite things about reading historical romance’s is when the authors write in detail about the time periods they are set in, the houses, the clothes they wear, the parties they attend for example and for me the author did a great job with describing everything in the story so that I could easily imagine what I was reading.
I quickly fell in love with the characters, I loved Olivia! I loved that she stood up for what she believed was right and for what she wanted regardless of the scandal that would be brought on her family. She was strong minded and I admired that about her.
Lucas, Lord Sinclair, was everything I wanted him to be and more. It was actually nice to read about the male character pining for the heroine – I think that made me love Lucas a little bit more!
Overall a fantastic read, one that I would highly recommend!

Author Bio –

Lara Temple writes strong, sexy regency romances about complex individuals who give no quarter but do so with plenty of passion. After moving around the world for her career as a financial analyst and business consultant she returned to her childhood love of making up stories, and was surprised to discover that other people don’t mind reading them.

She lives with her husband and two children who are very good about her taking over the kitchen table for her writing (so she can look out over the garden and dream while Oscar the dog keeps her feet warm by sitting on them as she works).

The Earl’s Irresistible Challenge (out December 2018) is the first in her Sinful Sinclair series. In May 2019 Unlaced by the Highland Duke, part of a four book series with three other Harlequin Mills & Boon authors will be released.
