JADE’S 3🌟 REVIEW:

I’ve never heard of this author before but I love a good thriller book so when I saw this one I was excited to start reading.

I found the book hard to get into, not because of the subject matter (which was terrible to read) but because of how many characters were thrown at us all at once. It propably didn’t help that the author kept using first then last names and kept switching between the two.

However, the storyline was at times compelling and I had to continue to read to see what would happen next. It was a fast paced story and I wish at times it would of slowed down to give us a bit of a breather and time to think about what had previously happened. There are some very grapic scenes in this book, they were really well written and made you feel like you were there. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book that kept you on the edge of your seat.

I didn’t like any of the characters in this book and that’s probably one of the main reasons for me giving it 3 stars. I could sympathise with them, with all they had been through but they were not likable characters at all.

REVIEW – Where the Snow Bleeds by Wendy Dranfield

Where the Snow Bleeds

“You want to know what I’ve learnt after living in Lone Creek all my life? I know the snow bleeds here …”

Former police officer Dean Matheson has been playing it safe since the case that cost him almost everything. But working as a PI doesn’t quite cut it, that is until a British woman walks into his office with a job that Dean can’t resist.

The woman’s daughter, Hannah Walker, and her friend Jodie have gone missing whilst working at a ski resort in Colorado. It’s clear there’s something sinister about the girls’ disappearance, but then why are the local police department being so unhelpful?

So begins Dean’s journey to Lone Creek on the trail of the missing girls – and he’ll soon find out that in Lone Creek, everyone has something to hide …

Jade’s 5⭐️ review:

This is the second book in the series about Dean Mattheston. I would say that they need to be read in order as they have a underlying storyline that follows on.

I did wonder if the author would be able to top the previous book, but she did. In Where the Snow Bleeds, Dean is trying to move on and recover from what happened back home. He’s moved away for a fresh start and is working as a PI. But his last case turns out to be the most exciting one yet for him.

This book had me captivated from page 1 until that last page. It had me gripped, I stayed up late and got up early just so I could carry on reading. This book took me through so many emotions. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I didn’t see coming.

I book ended with a good ending for there to be a 3rd book and I can’t wait to see what the author brings next!

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

Lure of Obsession is the first book that I have read by this author and overall I really enjoyed it. I thought that it was well written, the pace and flow of the story was good and had some interesting characters. I think when I first read the blurb for the story I wasn’t completely sure what I was in for, I was intrigued to say the least and it really was an interesting read. I liked the mythology feel to it; it did make the story a unique and unpredictable read. I loved feeling like I was working alongside the characters to find out what had happened to Mel’s roommate. I can’t say that this was an easy read I had to concentrate to understand everything that was going on but I was fully invested in what I was reading all the way through. I could sense the pull between Mel and Nate – the author wasn’t too over the top with this and it felt more believable and realistic.
Overall a really good read and start to a series that I think I am going to enjoy!

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW – Heathcliff by Sue Barnard

Heathcliff by Sue Barnard

It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff now…”
Cathy’s immortal words from Wuthering Heights change Heathcliff’s life. At just seventeen years of age, heartbroken and penniless, he runs away to face an unknown future.
Three years later, he returns – much improved in manners, appearance and prosperity.
But what happened during those years? How could he have made his fortune, from nothing? Who might his parents have been? And what fate turned him into literature’s most famous anti-hero?
For almost two centuries, these questions have remained unanswered. Until now…

KATIE’S 4⭐️ REVIEW:

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

When I first read the blurb for this book I was really intrigued, Wuthering Heights was the first classic that I read when I was younger and I remember being completely captivated by the characters and the storyline so this book really sounded like something I would enjoy – and I was right! It was a really good read and I think one of the things that stood out for me the most with the book is the way in which the author wrote it. She really tried to make the story feel authentic, she managed to fill in blanks that probably I never even thought about when I first read the book but now looking back I can see them. I was really impressed with the book as a whole.
I am pretty sure that all fans of Wuthering Heights (and possible readers who haven’t read it) would enjoy this book, it was a great read and one that I thoroughly recommend!

For the next twenty years, immersed in a point-of-sale advertising company, JM occasionally wrote advertising blurbs, learnt how to ride a motorcycle, taught color physiology to spiritual mediums, meditation and relaxation, studied Religions, Kabbalah, tarot cards, astrology, creative and professional writing, philosophy and volunteered at palliative care, and worked on the local church newsletter – not quite the appropriate outlet for a writer interested in the supernatural. KATIE’S 5⭐️ REVIEW:

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog.

I have read a few books by this author now and loved every single one of them so I was really looking forward to reading the next book in this series and I was not disappointed at all!! I think it was probably my favourite from her so far! I loved that it was a different kind of read from the author as in not quite as much action as I was expecting but I really didn’t mind I loved it anyway! I loved that Tristan and Penny’s story wasn’t all plain sailing they went through a lot to see if they could get their happily ever after.
As always the authors writing is richly detailed which enables me to imagine what I am reading – apart from the amazing storylines and characters this is one of the things I love about this author! She is definitely one of my favourite historical romance authors; she gets that level of detail just right.
This may be the last book in this wonderful series which is sad but I cannot wait to see what Ms Heath comes out with next!

BLOG TOUR & REVIEW – The Promise Between Us by Barbara Claypole White

The Promise Between Us by Barbara Claypole White
“If you leave your newborn child because you have unstoppable thoughts of harming her, are you a good mother or a terrible one? This dilemma is at the heart of Barbara Claypole White’s novel, a wrenching story of how one woman’s OCD has a ripple effect on those around her—including the people she tried hardest to protect. This is an eye-opening and realistic exploration of mental illness—a topic that greatly deserves to be front and center.”—Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of Small Great Things
Metal artist Katie Mack is living a lie. Nine years ago she ran away from her family in Raleigh, North Carolina, consumed by the irrational fear that she would harm Maisie, her newborn daughter. Over time she’s come to grips with the mental illness that nearly destroyed her, and now funnels her pain into her art. Despite longing for Maisie, Katie honors an agreement with the husband she left behind—to change her name and never return.
But when she and Maisie accidentally reunite, Katie can’t ignore the familiarity of her child’s compulsive behavior. Worse, Maisie worries obsessively about bad things happening to her pregnant stepmom. Katie has the power to help, but can she reconnect with the family she abandoned?
To protect Maisie, Katie must face the fears that drove her from home, accept the possibility of love, and risk exposing her heart-wrenching secret.

AISLING’S ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW:

Reviewed on Behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blogs

This is a great book and helped me understand the issues that OCD can cause someone. It helped me experience what the illness would be like and how it can reap someone into using repetitive behaviour because they need to do it to survive or to make sure others survive.

Katie Mack works in art as an iron welder. Years before she gave up her child, husband and life because she thought she would harm her child.

Maisie is Katie’s daughter but she doesn’t know Katie is her mother. Maisie has all the love she needs from her father Callum and Jake who is her fathers best friend. But now her father has remarried and is expecting a baby and is now also showing signs of OCD just like her mum.

Katie is reluctant to rock the boat but has no choice when Maisie shows the same issues she has, the story shows how they all have to work together to help their child whilst also helping themselves.

Every character of the book has experienced trauma of so sort and are afraid to live and live life to the full. Barbara White is also and OCD suffer and you can tell she has done a lot of research and used her own personal experiences which makes the book more real.

If you are interested in OCD and what a person experiences I would recommend this book. There is a good balance between suspense and hope in the book and shows that trauma doesn’t have to define your life.

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW – Dear Jane by Allie Cresswell

KATIE’S ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW:

Dear Jane: The final book in the Highbury Trilogy
By Allie Cresswell
5 stars
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

This was a wonderful ending to a series that I have thoroughly enjoyed! I loved that the author picked up on things that were hinted about in the original story and expanded on them to create this new story. This, I think, has been my favourite book out of the trilogy. The story is beautifully written and is full of rich detail which enables you to fully imagine everything that you are reading. I think if you are a fan of Jane Austen’s Emma then this is definitely a series that you will enjoy. Ms Cresswell has brought to life some of the lesser known characters of the original story and given them their own voice, and I love that she has kept true to the writing style of Jane Austen. This really has been a wonderful series and Dear Jane was a fantastic final book in this trilogy. I would have no hesitation in recommending it and I am really looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

Dear Jane

The final instalment of the Highbury trilogy, Dear Jane recounts events hinted at but never actually described in Jane Austen’s Emma; the formative childhood years of Jane Fairfax and Frank Churchill, their meeting in Weymouth and the agony of their secret engagement.
Orphaned Jane seems likely to be brought up in parochial Highbury until adoption by her papa’s old friend Colonel Campbell opens to her all the excitement and opportunities of London. Frank Weston is also transplanted from Highbury, adopted as heir to the wealthy Churchills and taken to their drear and inhospitable Yorkshire estate. Readers of Emma will be familiar with the conclusion of Jane and Frank’s story, but Dear Jane pulls back the veil which Jane Austen drew over its remainder.
